 FANTASY CONCEPT FAILED IN EXECUTION

Initial Impressions

 

Karunakaran is known for feel good movies for youth & family. He made his mark with films tholi prema, vasu, happy, ullasamga uthsahamga, darling. So endukante premanta was expected with nice feel good youth and love elements, starring cute pair amazing ram and gorgeous tamanna. 

But this time director chose fantasy movie with refreshing new concept, but narration was not up to the mark.

Story

         Movie starts in 1980's at Visakhapatnam Andhra university. A 1980's smart guy waiting at bus stand to hear from his beloved, waits almost till end of college days, but 1980's homely girl is never be able to look at him although she loved due to her family issues. 

         On the last day of college hero somehow tries to meet her but dies saving her from unfortunate accident, after that she also dies on his grave.

         Story jumps to 2012, Sravanthi(tamanna) the daughter of biggest Indian ambassador (suman) at Paris. Hero ram from Hyderabad a spoil t brat sent to Paris to a wine yard cleverly by his father shiyazi, there he have to work and earn money, until then his passport is taken. One day tamanna finds his father's assistant (rishi) involved in criminal activity and Rishi finds it and tries to kill her, she escapes from him, also clever ram escapes from wine yard and meets tamanna at exotic location on a bridge somewhere in Paris, later she helps ram to get passport from her father and ram too arrives Hyderabad.

So interval part has a twist, ram finds tamanna on hospital bed who is there from a week, so who is that girl he is speaking till now and what he did to save that girl forms the remaining story.

 Script Review

           So director chose out of box script but narration lacks proper emotion and feel

required for such creative concept. Soul concept is a fantasy, but we have accepted it in our movies, but here tamanna soul comes out when person is alive. It is the suffering and wandering soul between the life and death moment tamanna mind is in subconscious state & body almost dead, bit complicated to understand. We might have heard people who almost died and became alive, those people say what they remember "i am swinging in air, lights came on me, all people crying blah blah.. and they forget everything once they are back into life. Exactly this is the trick used in movie, Tamanna forgets at last, nobody except Ram sees the soul due to past life connection. In present life past life remembrance is not discussed which makes movie refreshing, its just left for audience to know & feel their relation.

Although cinematography is good for the movie, it would have been like a fantasy one, dreamy narration with nice touching songs and background score, only past life song touches. script work would have been more tight. But overall movie is ok. Ram, tamanna performances rock.

Andrew's Cinematography

           Cinematography is nice colorful, esp Songs, Paris locations & romantic Scenes. But expect dreamy narration as per script and director support.

Editing

Editing is good as par script

Action

          Action by peter heins is very good, but at last villain dies due to glass pieces piercing him is not so appealing.

Sound Design

Background score is ok, but this movie requires fiction sounding.

CGI VFX

           CG I | VF x is good. Steel rods piercing into ram's body in 1980's, tiger at Paris, picking the Eiffel tower into hands and placing it back looks nice in 'kicko gicko' song. Movie looks colorful esp songs and scenes in Paris.

GV Prakash Music

           It is the music which would have been soul for the movie, music for this movie is big let down, only pastlife 1980's song is good and touching.

 Performance

          Ram has good histrionics and energy, he did well in this movie. Ram costumes are nice.

             Tamanna steals the show with her lovely performance. She is a very nice actress. "Pani cheste chemata padutundi, chematante naku chiraku" her dialogue from movie. Her costumes are also nice esp in egiripove song where she is dressed in Senorita Dress.

Final Impression

           Movie is refreshing, karunakaran provided decent entertainment but if he had took some more time to polish the script and build more gripping screenplay and work with Andrew cinematography, movie would have been memorable.

           Watch this movie guys, you may like it if you watch casually. we have to encourage new thoughts because start of everything will not be perfect.
